This is a helpful little introduction the the psalms and how to better read them. This book contains far more information than the pages could suggest. Anybody can benefit from this. If you want to grow in your understanding of this crucial genre of Scripture, or more importantly, go deeper in your personal relationship with the Lord through praying the psalms, How to Read the Psalms is a great place to start. I also like the volumes on Genesis and Proverbs by Longman as well.

Longman is th good teacher and writes well. I enjoyed being taught about how to better understand the significance of both the content and the structure of the psalms.

Longman has provided another gem! As a text book it was very accessible, and I was eager to attempt the activities at the end of each chapter, which helped me to check my memory and understanding of what was being taught. I’d always heard of this book as THE treatment of the psalms, but I’d never read it until espying it the church library.
